Magazine Cover Reflection
The first project in my graphic design class was to create a magazine cove. Using Adobe Photoshop, we were assigned to make the cover with ourselves in it and any situation for why we were on the cover. The steps I took to make my magazine cover were simple. First thing, I decided what the concept of my magazine was going to be. Which was me partnering up with Charity Water in Rwanda, to build pipes for clean water. Then I made my layout for the view of my magazine. That is me in a crowd of Rwandan native celebrating the clean water, holding water in the palm of my hands. Next, I found my pictures, which I would, Photoshop in my magazine. Some of my pictures were from the Charity Water website. I used one picture from their trip to Rwanda. I also used a People Magazine logo and my picture. Finally, I used the Photoshop tools, like magnetic lasso, blending options and text, to put together my magazine.
My magazine cover looks like a picture of Rwandan people around a water pump smiling and clapping in celebration. I am placed to the left of all the people with my hand cupped holding water. To the upper right corner there is a People Magazine logo outline by a deep orange color. The headlines say, “ We all need water to survive. And everyone deserves clean healthy water to drink,” and, “ Julie Bamisile partners up with Charity Water to drill pipes in Rwanda.
I guess what I was trying to portray in my magazine s the importance of Charity. How the littlest things can make a big difference for someone. I showed that through my magazine by using a picture of people who didn’t have drinkable water getting a clean water pump for their community. You can see how happy these people are everyone is smiling and rejoicing.
Based on the rubric and the quality of my magazine cover I think I did fairly well. I did what was expected with out losing my creativity in it. The concept of my cover is something I do believe in very much. I wouldn’t do anything differently.
